WHAT MOM DOESN'T KNOW

Mom is the smartest,
the sweetest,
the greatest:
Mom Truly Knows All.

But she doesn't know
that when your parents bleed
and die while you look,
they do it every night;
some alley,
some circus,
some place ---
but it's  _every_  _night_.

They are still dying
somewhere.

So she quips at grandpa
and his war.
And she fears for daddy
when he flies.
But she hates them both
for my mask.

She doesn't see
who we are really looking for
who we are really trying to save.
